January 12, 2026 — Severe cold wave conditions combined with dense to very dense fog continue to grip large parts of North India, causing major disruptions in daily life, transportation, and visibility.

RED ALERT: Very dense fog over West Rajasthan | Cold wave to severe cold wave in isolated pockets of Rajasthan (mainly 12th Jan)
- Orange Alert — Dense to very dense fog expected in Uttar Pradesh, East Rajasthan, Himachal Pradesh
- Yellow Alert — Dense fog likely in Delhi, Haryana, Punjab, Chandigarh, Bihar, Jammu & Kashmir, Uttarakhand, Saurashtra & Kutch
Dense to very dense fog conditions are very likely to continue over Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh till 12th January morning and dense fog likely to persist till 17th January in many areas.
